You’ll also sort packages by scanning them, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers and memorizing routing information to place each package on the correct conveyor system.

Responsibilities
The Switcher role combines trailer movement in the yard with package handling duties as needed. The tasks below cover both the core switching function and the package handler functions you may be asked to carry out.

Requirements / Skills
A valid driver’s licence and a good driving record are required for this role, along with a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates with switching or CDL operator experience are preferred, and FedEx specifically looks at your current driver’s abstract and driving record as part of the selection process.
The driver’s record requirement is firm: a record with two or fewer violations and/or accidents in the 24 months prior to application is needed. You must also be able to complete mandatory testing and training, operate in a PC Windows environment and work varying shifts based on business needs.

- Ability to complete and achieve minimum thresholds on mandatory testing and training, including recurrence training and annual accreditations where applicable
- Ability to operate in a PC Windows environment
