About the Role: Sr Vehicle Technician (PUD)
As a Senior Vehicle Technician, you’ll deliver timely, quality, and cost-effective maintenance across the FedEx fleet. Your day-to-day will involve diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs on gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic-powered equipment, and using industry-leading diagnostic software to get vehicles back on the road quickly. Accurate documentation of all work completed is also a key part of the role.
You’ll be expected to follow safety procedures rigorously — including proper welding practices and correct use of mechanical lifting equipment. Working as part of a maintenance team, you’ll bring a high level of technical knowledge and professionalism to every task, contributing to the reliability of one of Canada’s most recognized courier networks.

Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be at the front line of keeping FedEx’s fleet road-ready. From routine preventative maintenance to complex diagnostics and repairs, your technical expertise directly supports the reliability of FedEx operations across the region.
- Perform preventative maintenance on FedEx vehicles and ground support equipment according to scheduled intervals
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using automotive diagnostic testing equipment and specialized software
- Execute repairs and modifications on gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic-powered vehicles to restore safe, efficient operation
- Operate diagnostic software including JPRO Professional Heavy Duty, Allison DOC Fleets, Cummins Insite Professional, Ford IDS, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link, and others as needed
- Apply welding skills and follow all associated safety procedures when required
- Document all maintenance and repair work accurately using computer systems and relevant software
- Lift and manoeuvre vehicle components weighing up to 70 lbs independently, and heavier components with appropriate mechanical lifting assistance
Requirements / Skills
FedEx is looking for a seasoned technician who can hit the ground running with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate brings a combination of formal certification, hands-on fleet experience, and a solid grasp of modern diagnostic technology.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required; Automotive Service Technician or Truck and Coach Technician certification is strongly preferred
- Valid Ontario G Licence with a clean driving record (two or fewer violations/accidents in the past 24 months)
- Minimum 3 years of fleet experience required; 7 years preferred for the senior-level classification
- Working knowledge of diagnostic testing equipment and tools for gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic-powered equipment
- Basic welding knowledge and familiarity with associated safety procedures
- Own a complete set of automotive or truck hand tools, including metric sizes and storage cabinets
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; familiarity with internet/intranet applications is an asset
