About the Role: Package Handler
As a Package Handler at UPS Guelph, your core duties revolve around the movement and organization of packages within the facility. You’ll be working with package delivery vehicles and trailers, sorting shipments by postal code, and learning proper handling techniques established by UPS. Shifts run 3 to 5 hours per day, with some flexibility in start and finish times depending on operational needs.
This is a physically demanding role that requires comfort working inside truck trailers and delivery vehicles, as well as the ability to handle packages in varying warehouse temperatures. UPS provides paid training so new hires can get up to speed on company procedures and safety standards quickly.
Benefits and Salary
The starting hourly wage is $18.00, with automatic progression under the Union Collective Agreement up to $35.15 per hour after 48 months of service. Employees are paid weekly via direct deposit every Friday. Additional benefits include tuition reimbursement of up to $2,000 per semester, paid training, personal paid days off, and 2 weeks of paid vacation after 1 year (increasing up to 6 weeks at 25 years of service). After one year, employees gain access to Extended Health Care Benefits covering vision, health, life insurance, and dental. Note that monthly union dues of approximately $52/month and a one-time union initiation fee of $50 apply.
