About the Role: Optical Student

As an Optical Student, you’ll assist members throughout the eyewear selection process — from choosing frames to picking up their completed order. You’ll handle point-of-sale transactions, process payments accurately, and ensure all orders are keyed correctly into the system.

Responsibilities

The Optical Student role covers a variety of tasks across member service, optical fitting, order processing, and department maintenance. Each responsibility plays a role in delivering a smooth and professional experience for Costco members visiting the optical department.

  • Assist members in choosing eyeglass frames and lens options while providing prompt and courteous service
  • Process transactions by ringing up orders and over-the-counter merchandise, handling cash, cheques, credit, and debit accurately
  • Fit and adjust eyeglasses using a frame warmer and manual bending, under the supervision of a licensed Optician and where permitted by provincial law
  • Order supplies and equipment by entering requests into the computer system and following proper procedures
  • Stock merchandise and maintain department standards for production, record keeping, merchandising, and product storage
  • Clean and maintain the department through spraying, wiping, mopping, emptying trash, and operating the trash compactor and cardboard bailer
  • Follow all safety and security procedures as required by the department and Costco policies
  • Support other warehouse areas as needed

Requirements / Skills
