About the Role: GM Lead Department Manager

As a GM Lead Department Manager, you’ll work closely with the General Merchandise and Fashion Assistant Manager to coordinate associate tasks, oversee department presentation, and ensure customers always find what they’re looking for. Your day will involve assessing the floor, directing associates, resolving customer concerns, and following up on Customer Availability Process tasks to make sure nothing slips through the cracks.

Beyond the floor work, you’ll also play a role in associate training and development, provide scheduling support, and maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free work environment. Adherence to Walmart’s policies and procedures — including safety sweep logs and fixture inspections — is a core part of this position.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be hands-on across multiple aspects of department leadership — from the sales floor to associate development. The responsibilities below reflect the breadth of what a GM Lead Department Manager is expected to handle on a daily basis at Walmart Canada.
