Deli Associate – Walmart – Surrey, BC

Walmart Canada’s Surrey location is looking for a Deli Associate to join their in-store team at 2151-10153 King George Blvd. If you enjoy working with food, helping customers, and keeping things running smoothly behind the counter, this role offers steady hours across a variety of shifts in a busy retail environment.

As a Deli Associate, you’ll be at the centre of one of the store’s most active departments — slicing meats and cheeses, preparing hot foods, and making sure the display cases are stocked, clean, and properly labelled. It’s hands-on work that keeps you moving and involves real interaction with customers every day.

About the Role: Deli Associate

In this position, you’ll take care of the day-to-day operations of the deli department, from rotating and zoning stock to preparing orders using slicers, stackers, rotisserie ovens, and deep fryers. You’ll also fill prepared salads and side dishes for the display area and handle specialty orders as they come in from customers.

A big part of this role involves following food safety standards — including cold chain compliance, thermometer calibration, temperature recording, and proper product rotation based on sell-by and expiration dates. Keeping the department neat, organized, and free of hazards is equally important, and you’ll occasionally assist front-end associates with price checks.

Benefits and Salary

This position starts at a minimum rate of $18.30 per hour. Responsibilities

• Zone the department regularly to ensure products are well-organized and properly displayed throughout your shift
• Rotate stock and check for expired or near-expiry products to maintain freshness and food safety standards
• Ensure merchandise is correctly signed and priced at all times
• Adhere to food safety standards including cold chain compliance, thermometer calibration, temperature recording, and proper handling of sell-by and expiration dates
• Take and prepare customer orders by slicing meats and cheeses, frying chicken, and using slicers, stackers, rotisserie ovens, and deep fryers
• Fill and stock prepared salads and side dishes for display cases and specialty customer orders
• Assist front-end associates with price checks as needed
• Keep the area clean and organized, free of debris, unnecessary fixtures, foreign objects, and liquids
