About the Role: General Merchandise Team Lead
As a General Merchandise Team Lead at Walmart Penticton, you’ll assist in the leadership of the General Merchandise areas, respond to customer and operational challenges, and help develop your team through hands-on coaching. You’ll plan and execute department activities based on workload priorities while also being present on the salesfloor when needed.
Working closely with the General Merchandise Coach and Store Management Team, you’ll help coordinate task completion, oversee customer availability processes, and contribute to a safe, clean, and organized store environment. Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll split your time between leading your team on the floor and making sure the General Merchandise department stays well-organized, fully stocked, and customer-ready. These responsibilities are designed to keep operations efficient while building a strong, motivated team culture.
- Deliver excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly, assisting with product decisions, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner
- Coordinate daily task completion by delegating, assisting, and following up on Customer Availability process tasks based on priorities set by the General Merchandise Coach
- Assess department presentation by identifying deficiencies and executing merchandising display changes as required
- Lead the daily Team Huddle at the start of each shift to share updates, set goals, and track team productivity
- Assign associates to support coverage and availability tasks across all areas of the store in collaboration with the People Lead
- Develop associates through ongoing coaching, identifying training opportunities during store tours with the Coach
- Maintain a safe, clean work environment by adhering to company policies, completing safety sweep logs, and ensuring displays and fixtures are secure
- Complete GTA/Workday tasks and support the management team with administrative and operational functions
- Support recruiting, hiring, and performance conversations in partnership with the Coach and People Lead
