About the Role: Customer Engineer IV, Networking
As a Customer Engineer IV on the Google Cloud team, your primary mandate is accelerating the technical adoption of complex, specialized networking workloads. You’ll work closely with platform Customer Engineers and technical sales teams, leveraging your expertise to build custom demos, workshops, and solutions tailored to each customer’s needs. From the initial technical evaluation all the way through customer ramp, you’ll be the go-to expert ensuring successful outcomes.
Beyond the technical work, you’ll build lasting relationships with both technical stakeholders and executive leaders, presenting solutions persuasively and clearly. You’ll document and prioritize customer feature requests within engineering systems, contribute reusable assets to the go-to-market team, and stay current on industry trends by liaising with product marketing and engineering. Strong organizational and communication skills are just as essential here as your networking depth.
Benefits and Salary
This is a full-time position with a US base salary range of $211,000–$294,000 USD, plus bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, a 401(k) with company match, 20 days of paid vacation per year, 40 hours of sick time annually, 13 paid holidays, and generous parental leave including up to 18 weeks of baby bonding leave and 28–30 weeks of maternity leave. Actual pay within the stated range will vary based on work location, skills, experience, and education.

Responsibilities
The day-to-day work of a Customer Engineer IV in Networking at Google Cloud is both technically intensive and customer-facing. You’ll be expected to drive outcomes across the full business cycle, from technical evaluation through to successful adoption, while contributing to the broader go-to-market team with reusable assets and learnings.
- Drive technical wins for complex networking workloads, supporting customers from the evaluation phase through ramp and adoption
- Develop prototypes, proofs-of-concept, and demos using programming and technical skills to present specialized solutions tailored to customer requirements
- Provide deep technical consultation to customers, acting as a trusted advisor and cultivating long-term relationships with technical and executive stakeholders

Requirements / Skills
Google is looking for a candidate who brings a rare combination of deep networking expertise and strong customer engagement skills. You should be equally comfortable writing code to build a proof-of-concept and presenting the business case for it to a C-suite executive. Both technical excellence and clear communication are non-negotiable at this level.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field
- 10 years of experience with cloud-native architecture in a customer-facing or technical support role
- Networking expertise in areas such as Linux, software-defined networking, network virtualization, open protocols, load balancing, DNS, or VPNs
- Executive and stakeholder communication — proven experience presenting to both technical teams and senior leadership
- Programming and prototyping ability to build demos and workshops for customer engagements
- Experience with complex network infrastructure design for distributed systems and cloud migration is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with IaC and DevOps methodologies (e.g., Terraform) for managing and deploying IT infrastructure is a strong asset
- Troubleshooting skills for network performance, connectivity, and security issues, along with knowledge of protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, and BGP
