Job Summary & Tips for Applying
Quick Summary & What to Highlight: The Mission Manager, National Security role at Mandiant (Google Cloud) in Ottawa is a senior cyber defence leadership position embedded with Canadian national security and defence clients. A resume for this posting should put 8+ years of cybersecurity leadership front and centre, alongside concrete evidence of people management and hands-on work across domains such as cloud security, threat intelligence, or incident response. Eligibility for a Personnel Security Clearance is a firm condition of employment and belongs near the top of your application.
Resume & Application Tips: Mirror the posting’s own terms on your resume: phrases like forward-deployed, sovereign cyber solutions, cloud-native ecosystems, and AI/ML pipeline security appear in the posting and reflect the client environment. If you have held any of the listed certifications (CISSP, CCSP, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Security), list them with their active status. A measurable example from your experience, such as “led a six-person team that reduced mean time to detect by 40% across three cloud environments,” gives reviewers something concrete to anchor your application to the scope of this role.
Interview Preparation: Prepare a specific example of a time you embedded with a client organization to deliver a complex cybersecurity programme, covering how you managed stakeholder relationships at the executive level and how you tracked milestones to completion. You should also be ready to discuss your experience with AI/ML security frameworks such as OWASP Top 10 for LLMs or NIST AI RMF, since those are called out as preferred. Worth asking: what the current clearance level requirement is in practice, and what the timeline looks like for candidates who are eligible but do not yet hold clearance.
