Job Summary & Tips for Applying

AI-generated summary and tips to help you highlight your strengths effectively.

Quick Summary & What to Highlight: The Senior Forward Deployed Offensive Security Consultant role at Mandiant in Ottawa embeds with Canadian national security and defence clients to deliver offensive testing, detection pipeline development, and cyber defence work. Candidates should put their five or more years of cybersecurity assessment experience and any offensive security certifications (OSCP, OSCE, OSEP, or equivalent) front and centre, tied directly to red/purple team and security control assessment work.

Resume & Application Tips: Mirror the posting’s own language: terms like red and purple team assessments, threat hunting, detection and response pipelines, and agentic AI are worth repeating in your summary and experience sections if they reflect your background. If you’ve led engagements for government or critical-infrastructure clients, say so explicitly and note the classification level of any clearance you hold or have previously held. A measurable example strengthens the application; for instance: “Conducted a 3-week red team engagement for a federal agency, identifying 12 critical gaps and reducing mean time to detect by 40%.” List every relevant certification from the preferred list that you hold.

Interview Preparation: Prepare concrete examples of offensive security engagements you have led or contributed to, particularly those involving network protocols, cloud environments, or incident response. Be ready to discuss how you communicate technical findings to non-technical executives, since the posting calls this out explicitly. Because this role requires a Personnel Security Clearance, be prepared to speak clearly about your clearance status and timeline. Worth asking: the typical length of client engagements, how embedded the role is day-to-day with the client versus internal Mandiant teams, and what the onboarding process looks like for the clearance if you are not yet cleared.
