Job Summary & Tips for Applying
Quick Summary & What to Highlight: The Cashier Part Time Afternoon role at Loblaws in Etobicoke is a unionized, part-time position starting at $17.95–$27.44 per hour, with no prior experience required. A candidate’s resume should lead with availability for afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts and any experience handling cash or credit card transactions, since those are the two most direct matches to what the duties involve.
Resume & Application Tips: Note that Loblaws uses artificial intelligence to screen and assess applicants, so naming the role’s own terms on your resume matters. If you’ve worked in retail, food service, or any customer-facing position, describe how you processed payments or answered customer questions. A concrete example works well here: for instance, “handled 80+ customer transactions per shift with no cash-handling errors” shows the kind of accuracy the posting calls for. If you have no paid work history, include volunteer or school experience where you served or assisted others.
Interview Preparation: Prepare a short example from your own experience of a time you stayed calm and helpful with a difficult customer or a busy lineup, since customer service and working in a fast-paced work environment are both stated requirements. Be ready to confirm your availability for afternoon shifts, evenings, and weekends specifically, as the posting calls those out. A useful question to ask: how are shifts assigned week to week, and what notice is typically given for scheduling changes.
