Job Summary & Tips for Applying
Quick Summary & What to Highlight: The Bring Up Engineer, Core OS job at Apple Canada in Ottawa is a hardware bring-up and debug role on new iOS-based devices. Put your 3 to 5 years of embedded or systems-level work first, since it matches the debug duties. Follow it with your C or C++ proficiency, which serves the firmware and driver work, and your experience reading hardware documentation.
Resume & Application Tips: Describe past projects where you debugged a board or device before its software was stable, and name the tools you used. If you have used JTAG, ported an operating system or written embedded drivers, give each its own line, since all three are listed as preferred. State the scale of the work in a sentence of its own, for example “Cut boot failures on a prototype board by tracing them to a driver fault.” Keep the resume to what relates to systems-level work.
Interview Preparation: Prepare one or two real stories where you took a problem from symptom to root cause, since the posting asks for end-to-end ownership and comfort with ambiguity. Be ready to talk through C or C++, operating system and computer architecture fundamentals, and any ARM or hardware debugger experience. For the employer, you could ask how bring-up work is split between Ottawa and other sites, since the posting does not say.
