Job Summary & Tips for Applying

AI-generated summary and tips to help you highlight your strengths effectively.

Quick Summary & What to Highlight: The Apparel Clerk (Part-Time Evening) position at Loblaws in Ottawa involves stocking and maintaining apparel displays, serving customers and supporting inventory. No experience is required, so a resume should put forward your scheduling flexibility (evenings and weekends) and your physical ability to move up to 50 lbs and stay on your feet for a full shift, as both are stated requirements for the role.

Resume & Application Tips: Because the posting names attention to detail, working independently and resolving customer questions as core traits, list any past work in retail, stocking, warehousing or a customer-facing role and connect it to those qualities directly. If you have experience keeping a display organized or handling product replenishment, call that out with a concrete example (for instance, restocked a 200-item clothing section nightly within a set time window). Note your availability for evenings and weekends clearly, since shift flexibility is a stated requirement.

Interview Preparation: Prepare a real example from your own work or a volunteer situation where you stayed on task without close supervision, since the posting specifically asks for the ability to work independently. Be ready to describe how you’ve handled a customer question you didn’t immediately know the answer to, which speaks directly to being resourceful and courteous. Worth asking: what a typical evening shift looks like in the apparel department, and how the training period is structured for new clerks.
