Google’s legal team is looking for an Associate Corporate Counsel, Cloud Legal to join its ranks in Toronto, Ontario. This is a senior in-house role sitting at the intersection of law and cutting-edge technology, where you’ll help shape how one of the world’s most influential companies delivers cloud services to enterprise clients across Canada.
Day-to-day, you’ll be negotiating and drafting complex commercial agreements across a wide range of subject matter — from AI and data privacy to cybersecurity, IP, and regulatory compliance. You’ll also serve as a trusted legal advisor to Cloud Sales executives, helping them navigate deal strategy and manage risk in a fast-moving commercial environment.
About the Role: Associate Corporate Counsel, Cloud Legal
As a member of the Google Cloud Commercial Legal team, you’ll partner directly with Go-to-Market sectors based in Canada, providing both individual contributor legal support and strategic guidance to executives across the region. Your work will span enterprise commercial agreements, regulatory matters, and cross-functional collaboration with teams in Finance, Compliance, and Product under Google’s Global Affairs umbrella.
Beyond the transactional work, you’ll play a meaningful role in improving how Google Cloud approaches agreement-making at scale — contributing to resource development, fallback creation, and programmatic enhancements that benefit the broader legal function. You’ll be expected to communicate complex legal issues clearly to non-legal stakeholders and to work collaboratively across a dynamic, multinational organisation.
Benefits and Salary

Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be deeply embedded in Google Cloud’s commercial operations, working across a broad portfolio of enterprise deals and legal matters. The responsibilities below reflect the scope and variety of work you’ll be handling on a regular basis, with a strong emphasis on transactional legal excellence and cross-functional collaboration.
- Negotiate, draft, and structure enterprise commercial agreements with a focus on cloud services, including AI, data privacy, cybersecurity, professional services, IP, and regulatory terms
- Advise Cloud Sales executives and leads on agreement strategy, legal and business risks, contract interpretation, regulatory issues, and other transaction and customer relationship matters
- Collaborate closely with legal and stakeholder teams across Global Affairs and Cloud — including Finance, Compliance, and Product — to drive commercial growth and support responsible agreement-making
- Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian laws and regulations across all commercial activities
- Promote continuous improvement of Cloud agreement-making through resource and fallback creation and programmatic enhancements
- Support Go-to-Market sectors based in Canada while guiding executives across the Canada region
Requirements / Skills
Google is looking for a seasoned legal professional who can operate with confidence in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in commercial transactional law, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to translate nuanced legal issues into clear, actionable guidance for business stakeholders.
- JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience in law
- Active bar membership and good standing, or otherwise authorised to practise law (e.g., registered in-house status) in the province where the position is located
- Minimum 3 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm
- Experience supporting enterprise sales teams and negotiating commercial technology contracts (preferred)
- Knowledge of AI, data privacy, cybersecurity, IP, and regulatory matters relevant to enterprise cloud transactional work in Canada, including regulated industries such as financial services and healthcare (preferred)
- French language proficiency to support client relationship management in the region (preferred)
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and explain complex legal issues clearly to non-legal audiences
