About the Role: Asset Protection Representative

As an Asset Protection Representative, your day-to-day work puts you at the intersection of retail operations and security. You’ll actively prevent theft, fraud, and policy violations through a visible professional presence, safely detain offenders in accordance with company and legal procedures, and conduct detailed internal and external investigations. You’ll analyze evidence, collaborate with law enforcement when necessary, and work with store leadership to identify loss trends and implement prevention strategies.

Beyond enforcement, this role requires a strong understanding of provincial regulations, security policies, and the Criminal Code of Canada. Responsibilities

In this role, every shift matters. You’ll be responsible for a wide range of loss prevention and security functions that keep the store safe and compliant. From deterring theft through your professional presence to conducting detailed investigations, your contributions directly reduce shrink and protect the business’s bottom line.

  • Protect and deter theft, fraud, and policy violations by maintaining a visible and professional in-store presence
  • Apprehend offenders safely and lawfully, following all company procedures and legal requirements
  • Conduct investigations — both internal and external — gathering and analyzing evidence with precision
  • Collaborate with law enforcement when required, maintaining professional relationships and accurate documentation
  • Reduce shrink by partnering with store leadership to identify loss trends and develop effective prevention strategies
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, security policies, and provincial regulations
  • Adapt quickly to a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment with a flexible schedule

Requirements / Skills

Loblaws is looking for a candidate who brings both the right credentials and the right character to this role. You should be someone who combines legal knowledge and technical skills with genuine professionalism and a proactive mindset. Experience in retail security is a strong asset, and a track record of integrity is non-negotiable.

  • Valid Provincial Security Guard Licence is required, along with a solid understanding of the Criminal Code of Canada and the Trespass to Property Act
  • CCTV and surveillance experience along with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Exceptional communication skills — approachable, confident, and respectful in all interactions
  • High level of integrity and accountability with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Previous retail experience in grocery, pharmacy, or high-volume settings is considered a strong asset
  • Criminal background check is required for candidates 18 years of age or older
