Asset Protection Representative – Loblaws – Kingston, Ontario

About the Role: Asset Protection Representative

Day to day, you’ll be the eyes and ears of loss prevention at the store level. That means patrolling the floor to maintain a visible deterrent, monitoring CCTV and surveillance systems, and making lawful detainments when required. You’ll also conduct both internal and external investigations, gathering and analyzing evidence in full compliance with company policy and Canadian law.

Collaboration is central to this position. You’ll work closely with store leadership teams to identify loss trends and develop prevention strategies, all while ensuring adherence to provincial regulations, security policies, and Loblaw’s internal standards. Flexibility is key — this role operates in a fast-paced retail setting where schedules can shift and quick decision-making is essential.

Responsibilities

Working as an Asset Protection Representative at Loblaws means taking ownership of store security from the ground up. Your day-to-day responsibilities blend physical deterrence, investigative work, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure a safe and secure shopping environment for both customers and staff.

• Protect and deter theft, fraud, and policy violations by maintaining a visible and professional in-store presence
• Apprehend offenders safely and lawfully, following all company protocols and applicable Canadian legislation
• Conduct investigations — both internal and external — gathering and analyzing evidence as required
• Collaborate with law enforcement when incidents escalate beyond store-level resolution
• Reduce shrink by partnering with store leadership to identify loss trends and implement prevention strategies
• Monitor CCTV and surveillance tools to detect suspicious activity and support ongoing investigations
• Ensure compliance with company security standards and provincial regulations at all times
• Adapt to a dynamic schedule and respond quickly to changing situations in a high-volume retail setting

Requirements / Skills

Loblaws is seeking a candidate who combines security credentials with strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to doing things the right way. The ideal applicant is proactive, trustworthy, and comfortable operating in fast-paced grocery or pharmacy retail environments.

• Valid Provincial Security Guard Licence — a mandatory credential for this role
• Knowledge of Canadian legislation including the Criminal Code of Canada and the Trespass to Property Act
• CCTV and surveillance experience — familiarity with monitoring tools used in retail security
• Microsoft Office proficiency — particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook for reporting and communication
• Exceptional communication skills — approachable and professional with both customers and colleagues
• High integrity and accountability — a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to every situation
• Previous retail experience in grocery, pharmacy, or high-volume environments is considered a strong asset
• Must be 18 years of age or older and able to pass a criminal background check
