About the Role: WHS Specialist

As a WHS Specialist at Amazon Nisku, your primary responsibility is to drive a comprehensive safety program through data-informed strategies. You’ll conduct daily safety audits, perform risk assessments, lead incident investigations, and implement preventive solutions designed to eliminate injuries before they happen. Delivering engaging safety training that resonates with associates — not just ticks a compliance box — is a core part of this position.

Beyond the technical side, you’ll champion cultural leadership by serving as an advocate for associate wellbeing at all levels of the organization. Building genuine relationships with frontline workers and management alike, you’ll coach, communicate, and positively reinforce safe behaviours until they become second nature. Benefits and Salary

Amazon offers a competitive hourly wage of $29.37 to $40.38 CAD per hour for this position in Nisku, AB. Total compensation may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities

The WHS Specialist role at Amazon covers both the technical and cultural dimensions of workplace safety. You’ll be expected to lead by example, maintain rigorous standards, and actively engage with associates and management to keep safety front of mind throughout every shift.

• Lead daily safety audits and conduct thorough incident investigations to identify root causes and prevent recurrence
• Perform risk assessments and implement innovative, data-driven solutions to mitigate potential hazards
• Deliver safety training that engages associates and fosters a proactive, prevention-first safety culture
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workplace safety without compromising operational efficiency
• Serve as a safety advisor and advocate for associate wellbeing, building partnerships across all levels of the organization
• Coach and communicate with frontline associates and leadership to drive lasting behavioural change around safe work practices
• Translate safety data into compelling narratives that drive engagement and influence positive change across the site
• Maintain physical presence on the floor — including lifting up to 49 lbs, standing/walking for up to 12 hours, and working in variable temperature environments

Requirements / Skills

Amazon is looking for a candidate who combines solid EHS knowledge with strong interpersonal skills. The right person for this role is as comfortable building trust with associates on the floor as they are analyzing incident data or leading a training session. A proactive mindset and genuine commitment to worker safety are essential.

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910
• Minimum 1 year of EHS experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant EHS field, OR 6 months in a safety-related role within Amazon
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving workplace security or personnel issues
• Preferred: Experience in worker’s compensation case management, emergency response, and/or current First Aid and CPR certifications
• Preferred: Experience leading teams and conducting job hazard analyses or job safety analyses
