About the Role: Software Developer III, Cloud
As a Software Developer III on the Firestore team, you’ll be contributing to a cloud-native database platform used by developers globally to build innovative applications. You’ll write product and system development code, participate in design reviews, and work across the full technical lifecycle — from design and development to testing, deployment, and maintenance. Every feature you ship touches a real community of developers who depend on Firestore daily.
Collaboration is central to this role. You’ll review code written by peers, provide constructive feedback aligned with best practices, and contribute to documentation and educational content. When issues arise, you’ll be expected to triage, debug, and resolve product or system problems by digging into root causes and understanding their impact on hardware, network, or service quality.
Benefits and Salary

Responsibilities
Working on the Firestore team means your day-to-day responsibilities directly shape the developer experience for users around the world. You’ll be expected to operate with a high degree of ownership — writing code, leading technical discussions, and helping the team deliver quality software at scale.
- Write product and system development code that contributes to the Firestore platform
- Participate or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to evaluate available technologies and make sound architectural decisions
- Review code written by other developers and provide feedback focused on best practices including style, accuracy, testability, and efficiency
- Contribute to documentation and educational content, adapting materials based on product updates and user feedback
- Triage and resolve product or system issues by analysing root causes and evaluating impact on hardware, network, or service operations
- Manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables across technical projects with appropriate leadership and accountability
Requirements / Skills

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field
- 2 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages (or 1 year with an advanced degree)
- Distributed systems, backend development, or cloud technologies experience is required
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred
- Data structures and algorithms experience (2+ years preferred)
- Java or C++ experience in large-scale distributed systems, or experience building SaaS applications, is an asset
- Database experience (SQL, NoSQL, or database internals) is considered a strong asset
