About the Role: Software Developer, Embedded Systems/Firmware, DNN Frameworks

Day-to-day, you’ll be writing and testing product and system development code in C/C++, reviewing peer contributions, and participating in design reviews that shape architectural decisions. You’ll work closely with embedded operating systems and help triage, debug, and resolve system-level issues that affect hardware, network, and service quality.

Beyond the code itself, you’ll contribute to documentation and educational content, keeping it aligned with evolving product updates. The role rewards both technical depth and collaborative leadership — whether you’re mentoring through code reviews or driving design discussions with stakeholders.

Benefits and Salary

Responsibilities

As a Software Developer on the Platforms and Devices team, your work directly influences how Google’s computing platforms perform at scale. From writing clean, testable code to leading design conversations, your contributions will have a real impact on products used by people around the world.

• Write and test product and system development code to high standards of quality and reliability
• Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders, evaluating available technologies to make sound architectural decisions
• Review code developed by other engineers and provide constructive feedback on style, accuracy, testability, and efficiency
• Contribute to existing documentation and educational content, keeping materials current with product and program updates
• Triage and debug product or system issues by analysing root causes and understanding the impact on hardware, network, or service operations

Requirements / Skills

Google is looking for a developer who combines strong systems-level programming skills with a collaborative mindset. The ideal candidate brings hands-on embedded development experience and is comfortable operating with some autonomy on complex technical problems.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field
• 5+ years of software development experience in C/C++
• 3+ years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products
• 1+ year of experience with software design and architecture
• 3+ years of experience working with embedded operating systems
• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field is preferred
• Experience with data structures and algorithms (5 years preferred)
• Technical leadership experience (1 year preferred)
• Familiarity with Android development is considered an asset
