Role of the Senior Design Researcher
As a Senior Design Researcher, you will:
- Lead strategic and exploratory research initiatives to identify new opportunities and inform product strategy.
- Use a variety of research methods, such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and ethnographic field studies, to gather deep insights.
- Facilitate workshops to translate research findings into strategic opportunities and actionable recommendations.
- Proactively communicate and present research findings to the product team in compelling and actionable formats.
- Inspire cross-functional partners to think big, leveraging research insights to ground decisions in user needs and wants.
- Foster a culture of user empathy and human-centered product development across the company.
- Collaborate with more junior colleagues and non-researchers, helping guide, shape, and mentor their work.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 3 years’ experience in market research, business analysis, UX design research, or related area, OR 5 years’ experience in market research, business analysis, UX design research, or related area.
- Experience working collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and influencing product strategy and design decisions.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Deep understanding of human-centered design and product development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Driving product development in a design research area.
- Master’s degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, Product Design, or related area.
- Related industry experience (e.g., retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare).
- Research or design certification (e.g., IDEOU – Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate).
- Experience creating inclusive digital experiences, knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility.
Compensation & Benefits
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $108,000 – $216,000/year depending on the location and other factors.
