About the Role: Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, On-call Relief
As an on-call relief carrier, your primary duty is to sort, collect, and deliver mail items safely and on time across assigned rural and suburban routes in the North Bay area. Responsibilities
Working as a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier with Canada Post means you’re the face of the organization for communities along your route. - Secure all mail safely in your possession throughout the duration of your shift
- Process Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
- Wear Canada Post identification visibly at all times during deliveries and collections
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) as required
- Operate a motor vehicle safely in various weather and traffic conditions throughout the delivery route
Requirements / Skills
Canada Post is looking for dependable, organized individuals who are comfortable working independently on the road. The ideal candidate has a clean driving record, a suitable personal vehicle, and the physical capability to handle the demands of a delivery route in any season.
- Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or G required
- Satisfactory safe driving record — a current driver’s abstract dated within the last 30 days will be required if selected
- Personal vehicle meeting Canada Post specifications: minimum cargo capacity of 50 cu ft (1,415 litres), automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top with accessory power outlet, and specific window sill height requirements
- Automobile liability insurance for use of personal vehicle, with notification to your insurance provider regarding employment use
- Experience making deliveries and operating a vehicle in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions
- Physical capability to lift and carry items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) regularly
- Ability to pass a pre-employment interview
