What Does a Maintenance Assistant Do at Costco?

As a Maintenance Assistant, you’ll be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the Optical Lab, ensuring all areas meet Costco’s high standards. Your day-to-day tasks will include cleaning floors, handling trash and cardboard compactors, monitoring supplies, and responding to spills. Additionally, you’ll assist with grounds maintenance, snow removal, and basic repairs to keep the facility safe and functional.

This role is ideal for individuals who are mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and enjoy working in a hands-on environment. Your contributions will ensure the lab is a clean and welcoming space for employees and visitors alike.

Your Responsibilities

• Floor Care: Clean and maintain floors in offices, break rooms, restrooms, and production areas.
• Trash Management: Empty trash bins, operate trash and cardboard compactors, and respond to spills promptly.
• Facility Maintenance: Clean windows, light fixtures, rafters, and ceilings. Replace light bulbs and assist with painting and concrete floor repairs.
• Grounds Maintenance: Assist with leaf blowing, litter collection, roof checks, snow and ice removal, and other outdoor tasks.
• Inventory Management: Restock cleaning supplies, perform store inventory, and make internal/external purchases as needed.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all Optical Lab and general safety and security procedures.
• Customer Service: Provide prompt and courteous service to members, employees, and suppliers.

What You’ll Bring

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: Previous janitorial or maintenance experience is an asset.
• License: Valid driver’s license is required.
• Skills: Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity are essential.
• Attention to Detail: Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
