About the Role: Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent
Each shift begins at the depot, where you’ll sort and organize the day’s deliveries before heading out on your route. You’ll operate a Canada Post postal vehicle and spend a significant portion of your day outdoors, delivering mail and packages either on foot or by vehicle. At the end of your route, you’ll return to the depot to unload incoming mail for future processing.
This position requires a strong sense of reliability and punctuality, as customers and businesses count on timely deliveries. You’ll need to be comfortable working in all kinds of weather — from Québec winters to summer heat — and must be available to respond to on-call scheduling as needed. Responsibilities
Day-to-day work as a delivery agent at Canada Post is structured around a clear routine that balances depot operations with time out on the road. Each task plays a role in ensuring that Canadians receive their mail and parcels on time, every time.
- Sort and prepare the day’s deliveries at the depot each morning
- Load and operate a Canada Post postal vehicle safely and responsibly
- Deliver mail and packages by foot or by vehicle along assigned community routes
- Interact with customers and businesses in a professional and friendly manner
- Unload incoming mail and packages at the depot at the end of each shift
- Respond to on-call availability requirements as scheduled
- Adhere to safety protocols and Canada Post’s workplace guidelines at all times
Requirements / Skills
Canada Post is seeking candidates who are physically active, dependable, and community-minded. The ideal delivery agent is someone who takes pride in their work and is comfortable spending most of their day outdoors in a range of weather conditions. Prior experience in customer service or driving is an asset but not required.
- Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a clean driving record for at least 3 years (driver’s abstract required)
- Physical capability to lift items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the shift
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather year-round
- On-call availability to respond to scheduling as needed
- French language proficiency (French Essential for this location; English and/or French reading, writing, and speaking ability required)
- Experience in customer service or delivery/driving roles is considered an asset
