Job Summary & Tips for Applying

AI-generated summary and tips to help you highlight your strengths effectively.

Quick Summary & What to Highlight: This Design Verification Engineer (Technical Lead) role at Amazon Web Services in Toronto focuses on chip-level verification for custom ML accelerators including AWS Inferentia and Trainium. A candidate’s resume should put 8+ years of constrained-random simulation experience (UVM) front and centre, since it is a stated minimum, alongside testbench development covering stimulus, checkers, assertions, and coverage, and any experience leading verification from IP block to SoC level.

Resume & Application Tips: Mirror the posting’s own terminology: write “constrained-random simulation,” “UVM,” and “sub-system/chip-level verification” rather than paraphrases. If you have worked with AMBA protocols (AHB, APB, AXI) or interconnect protocols such as PCIe or CXL, list each one explicitly since the posting calls them out by name. Preferred scripting and embedded development skills (Python, Perl, C/C++) are worth a dedicated skills section. A measurable example strengthens your application: for instance, “Developed a UVM testbench that achieved 98% functional coverage on a PCIe subsystem across three tape-outs.”

Interview Preparation: Be ready to walk through a specific end-to-end verification strategy you owned, including how you handled cross-module interactions and system-wide coverage closure. Prepare an example of mentoring or guiding a team through a complex verification challenge, as the posting explicitly calls this out as a responsibility. Since the posting does not specify the exact machine learning accelerator architecture you’d work on first, it’s worth asking which subsystem you’d be assigned to initially and what the current coverage gaps look like.
