Reporting to the AVP, Supply Chain Technology, SRE Operations, this manager-level position sits at the centre of Production Operational Excellence — driving technical vision, telemetry and observability decisions, automation strategy, framework development, and incident management across critical supply chain systems.

About the Role: Chapter Manager, SRE Development & Reliability

This is a leadership position with real technical depth. You’ll be responsible for ensuring Supply Chain systems remain operational, monitored, and continuously improving. That means setting the SRE strategy, collaborating with product and platform teams, managing on-call rotations, and driving the maturity of the chapter through automation and tooling. You’ll work with stakeholders from across the business, including executive-level presentations, and contribute directly to how Canadian Tire’s technology infrastructure is observed, maintained, and evolved.

You’ll also take ownership of the Problem Management process, reviewing root cause analyses, fostering a culture of solving issues at the source, and coordinating with Chapter Managers from Platform teams to keep the Supply Chain Service Offerings and CMDB in ServiceNow current. Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll wear many hats — from technical strategist to operational leader. The day-to-day work spans incident response oversight, monitoring and alerting configuration, stakeholder collaboration, and continuous improvement of SRE practices. These responsibilities are central to keeping Canadian Tire’s supply chain technology running reliably at scale.

  • Define and drive the SRE strategy and best practices for reliability, scalability, and performance of critical supply chain systems and services
  • Oversee incident management and response processes across the chapter, including root cause analysis and problem management
  • Establish and enforce monitoring and alerting best practices — configuring and tuning events, logs, metrics, and traces to proactively identify issues
  • Collaborate with product teams to define appropriate SLOs and SLIs, and maintain dashboards measuring application service performance and availability
  • Encourage automation and tooling development to streamline SRE processes including incident response, system provisioning, configuration management, and knowledge management
  • Lead regular operational reviews with SREs, product owners, and development teams covering performance trends, anomalies, errors, and availability events
  • Manage on-call rotations effectively and support delivery leaders in building and maturing the SRE practice
  • Track infrastructure and application patches, manage remediation of security vulnerabilities, and maintain an accurate inventory of applications and services in ServiceNow CMDB

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of technical depth and leadership experience. Canadian Tire is looking for someone comfortable presenting to executive stakeholders as easily as they are diving into monitoring configurations and SLO design. A background in supply chain technology, combined with hands-on SRE or systems engineering experience, will set you apart.

  • Incident and Problem Management experience including collecting, tuning, and responding to alerts, events, metrics, and traces
  • APM experience with tools like New Relic, along with familiarity with Sumologic, Grafana, Splunk, or Azure Monitor
  • Dashboard development skills in ServiceNow and PowerBI
  • Systems engineering fundamentals including networking, DNS, virtualization, containers, and various operating systems (Linux, AIX, Windows)
  • SRE expertise in designing meaningful SLO/SLI/SLA definitions and error budget frameworks
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to correlate data trends to outcomes; previous developer or system administrator background is a strong asset
  • Ability to identify and eliminate toil through scripting and automation
  • Knowledge of the Supply Chain industry and willingness to work non-standard hours as needed to support 24/7 operational requirements
