About the Role: Linehaul Coordinator
The Linehaul Coordinator supports transportation planning to maximize trailer capacity and maintain service integrity across assigned areas. You’ll direct the dispatch of transportation equipment in line with the Linehaul plan, coordinate with other FedEx field operations to manage both contractor and equipment needs, and track trailer movements throughout the network. Entering trip details into the Transportation Management System (TMS), verifying equipment locations through yard inventories, and conducting yard checks to confirm trailer load/unload status are all part of the daily routine.
This role also requires a strong commitment to safety. You’ll communicate safety initiatives, investigate and report schedule delays, accidents, and equipment failures, and coordinate with Safety and Maintenance departments on DOT compliance, including monthly tractor inspections and annual certificate renewals. Reviewing trailer load condition reports and Department of Transportation roadside violations are also part of the responsibilities.

Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be responsible for a broad range of transportation planning and dispatch coordination tasks that keep the FedEx linehaul network running smoothly. From managing trailer movements to ensuring DOT compliance, your work directly impacts on-time delivery across the network.
- Support transportation planning to maximize capacity, minimize partial trailer loads, and ensure service integrity for assigned areas
- Direct the dispatch of transportation equipment in accordance with the Linehaul plan
- Coordinate and track FedEx trailers, rental equipment, new trailers, and dollies throughout the network
- Manage Unassigned Team logistics for locally domiciled teams to maximize resource use and minimize tractor dwell time
- Enter trip details into the TMS system to ensure on-time pickup and delivery of trailers
- Verify equipment location by completing yard inventories and load/unload status through yard checks
- Investigate and report schedule delays, accidents, and equipment failures; implement contingency plans for en-route breakdowns
- Review DOT roadside violations and communicate findings to management
- Coordinate with Safety and Maintenance departments to monitor monthly tractor inspections and ensure annual DOT certificates are in place
- Review trailer load condition reports (TLCRs) to ensure they are completed properly and accurately
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate for this Linehaul Coordinator position brings a combination of logistics knowledge and hands-on dispatch or operations experience. FedEx values candidates who are organized, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced transportation environment.
- High School Diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business, or a related field is preferred
- Dispatch experience is preferred and will be a strong asset in this role
- PC/Windows proficiency is required, including the ability to enter and manage data in online systems such as TMS
- DOT knowledge and an understanding of transportation compliance regulations is beneficial
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple trailer movements and equipment assets simultaneously
- Bilingual (French and English) is required for candidates residing in Quebec
- Ability to work varying shifts based on business needs and complete all required recurrence training
