Responsibilities
Day-to-day work as a Package Handler at FedEx is centred on keeping freight flowing smoothly and safely through the facility. From the moment a shift begins, you’ll be engaged in physical, time-sensitive tasks that are critical to on-time delivery operations.
- Load and unload freight from trucks and facility docks efficiently and safely
- Scan and sort packages accurately to ensure correct routing and delivery
- Transport freight within and between facilities using appropriate equipment
- Manoeuvre packages weighing up to 150 lbs using proper equipment and safety techniques
- Complete mandatory training and recurrency programs as required by FedEx operations
- Operate in a PC Windows environment for scanning and data entry tasks
- Adhere to Canadian Customs regulations and internal FedEx operational standards
Requirements / Skills
FedEx is looking for a dependable candidate who can handle the physical demands of warehouse work and show up consistently for early morning shifts. Beyond physical capability, the right person will be a team player with a professional attitude and a clean driving record.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Valid full driver’s licence with a good driving record (two or fewer violations/accidents in the past 24 months)
- Ability to lift 70 lbs and manoeuvre packages up to 150 lbs with appropriate equipment
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Familiarity with FedEx Canada operations and Canadian Customs regulations is an asset
- Ability to complete all basic and recurrency training as required
- Available to work Saturday plus two additional days per week, starting at 3:30 AM
