About the Role: Area Manager II

On a typical day, you’ll be on the floor — conducting planning sessions, coaching team members through operational challenges, and developing their leadership capabilities. You’ll also be reviewing department-wide metrics, facilitating alignment meetings with senior leadership, and making decisions that directly affect customer delivery outcomes across multiple workflows and 200+ associates.

Amazon’s operations span three major workflow components: first mile (product storage and order readiness), middle mile (order haul to your area), and last mile (delivery to the customer’s door). As an Area Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining flow and performance across these stages while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, attendance, and productivity.

Benefits and Salary

This position offers a base salary range of $75,000 to $105,000 CAD annually, with total compensation that may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities

The Area Manager II role at Amazon’s YYZ1 fulfillment centre involves a broad mix of people leadership, operational oversight, and cross-functional collaboration.   • Diagnose root causes of performance gaps using advanced analytics and implement data-driven process improvements
  • Facilitate alignment meetings with senior leadership on department-level goals and operational priorities
  • Conduct planning sessions with your team, coaching associates through operational challenges and building their leadership capabilities
  • Perform physical tasks as required, including lifting up to 49 lbs, standing and walking for up to 12 hours per shift, and navigating variable work environments

Requirements / Skills

Amazon is looking for a candidate with a proven track record in team leadership and performance management who is comfortable working in a high-volume, physically demanding environment. The ideal person brings operational know-how, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to developing their team while delivering results.

  • 2+ years of employee and performance management experience, with demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon blue badge/FTE experience
  • Flexible availability including weekends, nights, and holidays
  • Experience managing large teams (50+ members) is a strong asset
  • Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, or process improvement experience is preferred
  • Background in logistics, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, or customer-facing environments is an advantage
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to drive data-informed decisions and cross-functional alignment
