Package Handler – FedEx – Dartmouth, NS
Location: Nova Scotia | Company: Fedex
FedEx is hiring Package Handlers at their Dartmouth, Nova Scotia facility located at 355 Wilkinson Ave. If you’re someone who likes staying active during your shift and prefers a physical, hands-on role over sitting at a desk, this could be a solid fit. No prior experience is required — FedEx provides the training you need to get started on the warehouse floor.
As a Package Handler, your day-to-day will involve the loading, unloading, and sorting of packages by hand. You’ll work alongside a team in a fast-moving environment, rotating through different stations such as Loader, Unloader, Palletizer, Scan Weigh and Key (SWAK), and Quality Assurance (QA). Shifts are structured and relatively short — typically 3 to 5 hours — making this a viable option for those seeking part-time hours alongside other commitments.
About the Role: Package Handler
Package Handlers at FedEx are the backbone of the sorting operation. You’ll be responsible for moving packages safely and efficiently using hand-to-surface handling techniques, scanning labels, reading charts, and directing shipments to the correct conveyor lines. Depending on your assignment, you may also take on specialized responsibilities — such as the Package Handler Trainer role (training peers on proper techniques) or the Package Handler – Air role (conducting multi-step inspections to ensure no air-restricted packages are loaded into air containers).
Working in a warehouse environment means adapting to variable temperatures, elevated noise levels, and the physical demands of continuous lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying packages ranging from 5 to 50 pounds. Safety is a core priority at FedEx, and all Package Handlers are expected to follow dock safety standards and company procedures consistently throughout every shift.
Benefits and Salary
This position pays $20.37 per hour. FedEx is known for offering its team members a range of competitive benefits, and as part of one of the world’s largest logistics companies, there are meaningful opportunities for career development and advancement from within the organization.
