Driver Trainer – Amazon.com Services LLC – Milpitas, CA
Amazon is seeking energetic and self-motivated individuals to join our team as Driver Trainers. In this role, you will play a crucial part in building a network of customer-centric Delivery Associates in the communities where we operate. You will be responsible for conducting drive-alongs and training sessions focused on instilling safe driving practices in Delivery Associates.
As a Driver Trainer, you will adapt training techniques to accommodate different learning styles, ensuring that Delivery Associates are well-prepared to deliver packages safely and on time. You’ll lead by example, embodying Amazon’s Leadership Principles, and will play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
About the Role
As a Driver Trainer, you will establish a culture of safety and excellence at your delivery station. You will lead daily training sessions, offer feedback, and ensure all drivers adhere to safety protocols. You’ll partner with Delivery Service Partners (DSPs), Operations Managers, and Learning Teams to measure and improve driver performance. Tracking performance, conducting re-training, and auditing compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations will also be key parts of your responsibilities.
This role requires physical activities such as driving, loading/unloading packages, and lifting up to 49 pounds. You should be prepared to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and travel up to 50% of the time within a 50-mile radius to support other sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate daily training classes for up to 30 Delivery Associates, including in-station sessions and drive-alongs.
- Partner with DSPs and Operations Managers to coordinate and measure training activities, ensuring safety and productivity.
- Track performance and conduct re-training sessions to address any gaps in driver skills.
- Audit driver safety and compliance, including vehicle inspections, hours of service, and trip planning.
- Maintain accurate records of training, compliance, and performance metrics.
Basic Qualifications
Amazon requires the following basic qualifications for the Driver Trainer role:
- 1+ years of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 49 pounds and work 40 hours per week, including overtime as required.
- 1+ years of experience delivering training both to individuals and groups.
Preferred Qualifications
Amazon prefers candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- 2+ years of professional driving experience.
- 1+ years of experience delivering training to individuals and groups.
- Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of experience working at Amazon.
- Knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional techniques.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
