Brokerage Representative II – UPS – Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
UPS is seeking a skilled Brokerage Representative II to join its customs clearance team in Mississauga. In this role, you will process customs clearance and verify declarations for a wide range of shipments. You will also assist with delivery service or import permit requests and handle the necessary documentation for government agencies. This position operates Monday to Friday, from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, and includes responsibilities such as data entry, customer communication, and identifying business opportunities. You will play a key role in ensuring rapid, error-free processing and delivering excellent customer service.
About the Role
As a Brokerage Representative II, you will process customs clearance, manage delivery permits when necessary, and ensure that all shipments comply with relevant laws and regulations. Your responsibilities will include validating customer information, assisting with documentation, and addressing inquiries from customers, drivers, and customs offices.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal teams and external clients to provide efficient support. Success in this position requires attention to detail, a proactive approach, and excellent customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Process customs clearance and confirm declarations for shipments.
- Collect supplementary documentation from customers, drivers, and customs offices.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and other government requirements.
- Identify discrepancies in customer profiles and assist in resolving issues.
- Answer standard inquiries and requests from customers and internal teams.
Basic Qualifications
UPS requires the following basic qualifications for the Brokerage Representative II role:
- High School Diploma.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in customs operations.
- Knowledge of Customs operations, laws, regulations, and the HS system.
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Certification (recommended).
Preferred Qualifications
UPS prefers candidates who also possess the following qualifications:
- Bilingualism (required in Quebec).
- Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with the Canada-US-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) and permit process.
