About the Role: WHS Specialist

Benefits and Salary
Amazon offers a competitive hourly wage of $29.37 to $40.38 CAD for this position in Whitby, ON, with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location. The total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities
As the on-site safety specialist, your responsibilities span both program execution and people leadership. You’ll be actively present on the floor, identifying risks, coaching associates, and ensuring safety best practices are embedded into daily operations — not just posted on a bulletin board.
- Lead daily safety audits and risk assessments to proactively identify and address potential hazards before they result in injury
- Conduct incident investigations with thoroughness and care, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions
- Deliver safety training that engages associates and promotes a proactive, ownership-driven safety culture
- Advocate for associate wellbeing by building trusted relationships with frontline workers and leadership at all levels
- Analyse safety data and translate findings into compelling narratives that drive measurable improvements and engagement
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workplace safety without compromising operational efficiency
- Support emergency response efforts and contribute to a culture of preparedness across the facility
Requirements / Skills

- High school diploma or equivalent is required as a minimum educational qualification
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910, is essential for this role
- Minimum 1 year of EHS-related experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, OR 6 months in a safety-related role within Amazon
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional setting to manage documentation and reporting
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive security or personnel matters
- Physical capability to lift up to 49 lbs, stand/walk for up to 12 hours, and work in variable temperature environments
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including days, nights, and weekends as required
