As a Software Development Engineer in the Perimeter Protection team, you will work on innovative services like AWS Shield, AWS WAF, AWS Firewall Manager, and Network Firewall. These services protect some of the largest distributed networks in the world.

Your role involves building new features for recently launched services, influencing the design and development of solutions to combat evolving threats, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

About the Role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop services that safeguard some of the internet’s largest businesses. You will design, build, deploy, and support new services, interacting directly with customers to gather requirements and shape the direction of AWS Perimeter Protection. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop services that defend some of the internet’s largest businesses from malicious requests.
  • Design, build, deploy, and support new security services.
  • Gather requirements from customers, design and implement solutions, and manage the product operationally.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and create new features.
  • Analyze distributed systems and deep packet inspection for effective threat mitigation.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
