About the Role: Warehouse Workflow Specialist

As a Warehouse Workflow Specialist, your primary function is to maintain and improve product workflow across the distribution network. You’ll analyze and develop logistics plans that impact production, distribution, and inventory — creating and reviewing procedures to ensure a continuous product flow from vendors to customers. You’ll actively monitor the WMS to determine optimal order waves that maximize workforce efficiency against outbound volume demands.

This role also requires strong communication and coordination skills, as you’ll be working across systems and personnel to ensure accurate information reaches the teams executing the work. You’ll be expected to identify and resolve workflow inefficiencies, investigate root causes of planning concerns, and implement corrective actions — all while keeping safety, accuracy, and team performance top of mind.

Responsibilities

Day to day, a Warehouse Workflow Specialist at FedEx keeps the entire warehouse operation running smoothly by planning, monitoring, and adjusting order workflows in real time. From directing yard-to-dock movement to coordinating shift scheduling, these responsibilities are essential to meeting customer fulfilment requirements and maintaining operational efficiency.

  • Monitor the WMS to assess optimal order waves that align workforce capacity with outbound volume demands
  • Resolve workflow inefficiencies between inbound and outbound shipments promptly and effectively
  • Investigate root causes of planning concerns and expedite corrective actions
  • Communicate accurately with teams to ensure complete and correct information reaches all executing personnel
  • Plan systematically using WMS to analyze and schedule orders according to the planning schedule
  • Track and prioritize daily workload, maintain inbound/outbound delivery records, and develop strategies to resolve discrepancies
  • Schedule shift work and coordinate all outbound orders across company systems
  • Coordinate order processing by collaborating across systems and teams to ensure efficiency
  • Direct yard-to-dock flow, managing vessel movement between the yard and dock doors

Requirements / Skills

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience: 0–2 years of related experience in logistics, distribution, or warehouse operations

  • Computer skills: Basic PC skills required; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook preferred

  • Physical requirements: Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds and work on your feet for the duration of a shift
