Tax Manager, Canada Indirect Tax – Amazon – Vancouver, BC / Toronto, ON – $89,200 – $149,000/year
Amazon’s Canada Indirect Tax team is looking for a seasoned Tax Manager to join their team. This role involves managing Canada’s indirect tax planning and related inquiries across all Amazon businesses (except AWS).
You will need significant expertise in Canadian indirect tax matters (GST/HST/PST) and experience working independently with tax authorities and internal teams. This is an opportunity to provide high-quality tax advice, lead tax planning initiatives, and influence Amazon’s strategic decisions while driving compliance and minimizing risk.
You will collaborate closely with various Amazon teams to communicate the impacts of new tax laws, support audits, and provide strategic tax recommendations. This role requires deep knowledge of Canadian indirect tax regulations, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with senior leadership on complex tax issues.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate Canada indirect tax planning and related inquiries.
- Ensure new projects launch with proper indirect tax requirements.
- Analyze and support legislative changes that impact Amazon’s businesses.
- Draft tax technical memos and opinions.
- Liaise with advisors and tax authorities on indirect tax planning.
Compensation & Benefits

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field.
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department.
- 5+ years of experience in advisory and planning on complex Canadian indirect tax matters.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with marketplace tax collection rules across all provinces.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian indirect tax legislation and its application.
Working Conditions
This position can be based in Vancouver, BC, or Toronto, ON. The role involves working closely with various teams across Canada and globally to ensure effective tax planning and compliance.
The Tax Manager will frequently interact with senior leadership and external advisors to drive tax strategy and support Amazon’s business operations.
