Amazon Canada is on the lookout for a seasoned Sr. Operations Manager to lead operations at its YOW3 Fulfillment Centre in Barrhaven, Ontario. About the Role: Sr. Operations Manager
As Sr. Operations Manager, you’ll be accountable for the complete performance of your functional area — including safety, quality, customer experience, and team development. You’ll set clear expectations for your Ops and Area Managers, measure their performance, and hold them accountable while providing the coaching and mentorship they need to grow. Your leadership will directly shape the culture and capability of the fulfillment centre.
Collaboration is central to this role. You’ll work closely with cross-functional support teams including HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, and IT to secure resources and build momentum behind key initiatives. You’ll also champion best practice sharing across departments, shifts, and the broader Amazon network — making sure the entire FC benefits from continuous improvement efforts.
Benefits and Salary
Amazon offers a competitive base salary range of $116,100 to $193,900 CAD annually for this position in Barrhaven, ON. As part of Amazon’s total compensation package, you may also be eligible for sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Final compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and location. Responsibilities
As the most senior operations leader on site, the Sr. Operations Manager is responsible for driving both day-to-day performance and long-term improvement across the fulfillment centre. From managing multi-layered teams to championing Lean process initiatives, this role requires someone who leads with data, develops people, and never loses sight of the customer experience.
- Drive quality and process improvement by creating Lean initiatives and change management strategies that push the FC to meet and exceed business targets
- Own overall performance for either Inbound or Outbound operations, including safety, quality, and the customer experience
- Set expectations and measure performance for Operations and Area Managers, providing regular feedback and holding leaders accountable
- Coach and mentor Ops and Area Managers to build leadership bench strength and ensure performance objectives are consistently met
- Source and nurture ideas from your management team and roll them into actionable improvement plans for your functional area
- Champion best practice sharing across all departments, shifts, and throughout the Amazon network
- Partner with support functions including HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, and IT to secure the resources and backing needed for key initiatives
Requirements / Skills
Amazon is looking for a confident, experienced operations leader who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced distribution environment. The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, a track record of developing high-performing teams, and the physical stamina to work actively on the floor across a large-scale fulfillment facility.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of equivalent practical experience in a related field
- Experience in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related discipline is strongly preferred
- Leadership capability to manage and develop multi-tiered teams of Operations and Area Managers
- Physical fitness for floor operations — including lifting totes up to 49 lbs, walking an average of 5 miles daily, and working in construction/distribution environments
- Ability to work in varied conditions, including environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, or not air-conditioned
- Access to all areas of the building, including ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely
