About the Role: Baker

Responsibilities

As a Baker at Costco, your day-to-day work centres on producing high-quality baked goods in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Precision, consistency, and safe food-handling practices are at the heart of everything you do on the floor.

  • Assemble and measure large quantities of ingredients according to Costco’s proprietary baking formulas, using a calculator to adjust yields as required
  • Operate power equipment including dough rollers, muffin depositors, crust machines, and large commercial power mixers to prepare batters, doughs, frostings, and fillings
  • Roll, cut, and shape dough for a variety of breads and pastry products, and transfer raw product to raising rooms
  • Bake and monitor product in large commercial ovens, removing finished goods to cooling racks at the appropriate time and feeding dough into automated dough machines
  • Maintain food safety standards by monitoring sanitation, temperatures, and pull dates in compliance with health code regulations
  • Follow department production procedures to ensure consistent quality and presentation of all finished bakery products
  • Deliver prompt and courteous service to Costco members whenever interacting on the floor
  • Support the team by assisting with other bakery duties and warehouse areas as needed
