The Mandiant Consulting Team delivers high-value assessments, including adversarial emulation engagements and application security testing. Our team members assess and advise clients on technical and process-based controls across various environments.
Whether it’s threat intelligence-led red teaming, assessing high-value web applications, or testing Cloud-native solutions, our goal is to ensure our clients are prepared to defend against modern cyber threats.
Role of the Application Security Consultant
As an Application Security Consultant, you will be responsible for conducting independent, high-quality external network and web application assessments. You’ll take an active role in cloud and mobile application testing, and you’ll be tasked with developing comprehensive and accurate reports for both technical and executive audiences.
Your role will also involve recognizing and safely utilizing attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures, and effectively communicating findings and strategies to client stakeholders, including technical staff, executive leadership, and legal counsel.
This position requires up to 20% travel, as needed, to meet with clients and perform on-site assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Assessments: Perform independent external network and web application security assessments.
- Cloud and Mobile Testing: Engage in cloud and mobile application security testing.
- Report Development: Create comprehensive reports and presentations for both technical and executive audiences.
- Utilize Tactics and Techniques: Safely apply attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures during assessments.
- Client Communication: Present findings and strategies to client stakeholders, including technical staff, executives, and legal counsel.
- Travel: Travel up to 20% of the time as required for client engagements.
Compensation & Benefits
Google offers a competitive base salary range of CAD 118,000-131,000/year for this full-time position, along with potential bonuses, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.
The specific compensation will depend on your role, level, and location. For roles in British Columbia, this salary range is reflective of the local market, with additional benefits and incentives available.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience in three or more of the following security areas: network, web application/mobile, cloud, scripting, tool development.
- 2 years of experience with techniques and tools used for web application and network security testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications related to offensive security, including OSWE, BSCP, CWEE, OSCP, or relevant SANS courses.
- Experience in four or more of the following: application security, offensive security testing, developing applications, source code review, reverse engineering, exploit development, network protocols, system and network administration, security consulting.
- Experience implementing or assessing information security controls.
- Experience in software or web development.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship management skills.

This role is part of Google’s hybrid workplace, offering both remote and in-office work options. You can choose to work from our office in Toronto, ON, or remotely from anywhere in Canada.
