Control Systems Engineer Manager – Amazon – Dallas, TX

Amazon’s Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is hiring a Control Systems Engineer Manager to lead technical operations in fulfillment centers. The RME team is essential in managing risks, minimizing system downtime, and improving operational performance. In this role, you will oversee a team of control systems technicians and leads, troubleshoot complex control systems, and collaborate with internal teams to optimize material handling equipment (MHE) systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and plan work activities for Control Systems Technicians/Leads to achieve team goals.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize material handling control systems including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, etc.).
  • Monitor system performance and provide analysis for operations teams to address any performance issues.
  • Mentor and support Control System Technicians (CST) and Leads (CSL) to enhance skill levels within the team.
  • Coordinate new technology installations and act as a technical consultant for capital projects within the building.
  • Provide technical support during and after business hours for troubleshooting and resolving system issues.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Operations, Safety, and Engineering to optimize systems and ensure compliance.
  • Travel up to 20% post-launch and 50% pre-launch for building launches and training tasks.

Basic Qualifications

Amazon requires the following basic qualifications for the Control Systems Engineer Manager role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or +2 years of Amazon Blue Badge/FTE experience.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

Amazon prefers candidates who also possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience with electrical theory, robotics, and automated equipment controls.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems (480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems).
  • Experience with HMI, SCADA systems, and control software platforms (RSLogix5000, FT View).
  • Familiarity with robotics work cells and ASRS systems.
  • Ability to lead teams in technical roles and train less experienced staff.
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
