About the Role
The Software Development Engineer will be responsible for designing highly scalable APIs and implementing controls to support the growth of Amazon’s Sponsored Products. You will leverage vast data sets to deploy machine learning algorithms, automating marketing strategies and optimizing performance for advertisers. Your work will play a critical role in building robust recommendation engines and services that meet high standards of performance and reliability.
This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration with multiple teams. You will own the technical vision and direction for the projects you lead, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products that align with Amazon’s core values of innovation and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable APIs to support advertisers using Amazon’s Sponsored Products platform.
- Develop predictive services and recommendation engines using machine learning techniques.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, data scientists, and UX teams to deliver optimal solutions.
- Own technical vision and direction, identifying problems and developing innovative solutions.
- Lead technical decisions across the organization and mentor fellow engineers to drive engineering excellence.
Basic Qualifications
Amazon requires the following basic qualifications for the Software Development Engineer role:
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture (design patterns, scalability, reliability).
- Proficiency in at least one programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
Amazon prefers candidates who also possess the following qualifications:
- Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- 4+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including code reviews, source control management, and build processes.
