About the Role: Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier
As a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier with Canada Post, your primary responsibility is to ensure that mail and parcels are sorted, collected, and delivered safely and on time to customers across assigned routes. Responsibilities
Day-to-day work as a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier centres on reliable, safe delivery across assigned routes. You’ll be the face of Canada Post in communities like Ilderton, Arva, and Lucan, so accuracy, professionalism, and a solid understanding of the local area all matter.
- Sort, collect, and deliver mail and parcels safely and in a timely manner across assigned rural and suburban routes
- Build and maintain knowledge of local infrastructure including roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
- Secure mail items properly while in your possession to ensure nothing is lost or damaged
- Process Canada Post products and services such as Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
- Wear and display Canada Post identification visibly at all times while on delivery
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg) throughout the shift
- Operate a motor vehicle safely in all weather and traffic conditions
Requirements / Skills

- Suitable personal vehicle meeting mandatory requirements: minimum 50 cu ft (1,415 L) cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof-top, accessory power outlet, and a middle passenger window sill height between 38″ and 45″ from the ground
- Automobile liability insurance — must be maintained and your insurer must be notified of vehicle use for Canada Post purposes
- Experience making deliveries or operating a vehicle in varied weather and traffic conditions is an asset
- Residing within 75 km of the Ilderton Post Office is preferred
- Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs and work independently with minimal supervision
