About the Role: Quality Engineer – Pharma Logistics & Cold Chain

As a Quality Engineer at FedEx, you’ll provide analysis and reporting on quality-related processes while actively participating in quality improvement initiatives. You’ll apply Business Process Engineering (BPE) and Quality Driven Management (QDM) techniques to assess value and drive business outcomes. Responsibilities

This role spans quality engineering, regulatory compliance, and process improvement across FedEx’s pharmaceutical logistics and cold chain operations. You’ll be a key liaison between business stakeholders and quality functions, driving measurable outcomes through structured methodologies and continuous improvement practices.

  • Conduct root cause analysis, FMEA, and risk assessments, and develop effective solutions in collaboration with business stakeholders
  • Support and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) to meet GDP, CEIV Pharma, and ISO 9001 standards for pharmaceutical transport
  • Lead or support temperature mapping and validation of cold chain lanes, vehicles, packaging systems, and storage areas in alignment with WHO PQS guidelines
  • Participate in CEIV Pharma audits and ensure ongoing compliance with IATA standards for pharmaceutical air freight
  • Design and implement statistical process control methods in key processes to reduce quality variance
  • Create control plans, process maps, and work instructions for new products, processes, and projects
  • Deliver training and coaching to operations staff on temperature-sensitive handling, GDP requirements, and audit preparedness
  • Provide regular reporting on project plans, communication plans, and project status to all stakeholders
  • Conduct periodic process audits to ensure operational capabilities and stability align with business outcomes

Requirements / Skills

FedEx is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented professional with a strong foundation in quality engineering and hands-on experience in healthcare or pharmaceutical environments. The ideal candidate brings both technical rigour and the interpersonal skills to influence across teams and levels.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Transportation, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in applied engineering concepts with a focus on healthcare quality in manufacturing, laboratories, or distribution
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Familiarity with quality system standards including GxP, ISO 9001, and TL9000
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels

  • Preferred: Certifications in GDP, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, ASQ CQE, or CEIV Pharma; experience with global health organizations, vaccines, or biologic distribution; familiarity with QMS platforms, data loggers, IoT temperature monitoring, and thermal packaging validation
