Loss Prevention Clerk – Costco – Kelowna, BC
Location: Vancouver, BC | Company: Costco Wholesale
Costco’s Kelowna warehouse on Baron Road is looking for a Loss Prevention Clerk to help protect company assets and maintain a safe environment for members and staff alike. This is a hands-on, active role that puts you at the front line of retail security and loss prevention — ideal for someone with a sharp eye, solid judgment, and a working knowledge of Canadian law.
From walking the warehouse floor to detaining shoplifters and preparing investigative reports, this position covers the full spectrum of loss prevention operations. You’ll work closely with warehouse management, communicate with local law enforcement, and collaborate with other Costco LP clerks across the region to stay ahead of theft trends.
About the Role: Loss Prevention Clerk
As a Loss Prevention Clerk, your primary responsibility is safeguarding the warehouse from both internal and external theft. You’ll spend a significant portion of your shift walking the warehouse and its perimeter — up to 8 hours a day — observing, detecting, and responding to security and safety concerns. When incidents occur, you’ll detain and interview suspects, prepare detailed reports, and liaise with local law enforcement as needed. This is not a passive monitoring role; it requires active engagement and decisive action when the situation calls for it.
Beyond frontline enforcement, you’ll also contribute to the broader team by coaching and educating warehouse staff on loss prevention policies and procedures. Understanding and adhering to the Criminal Code of Canada, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Trespass Act, and applicable Privacy Acts is essential to performing this role lawfully and professionally.
