About the Role: GTS Senior Broker

This position is designed for a seasoned professional who can navigate the complexities of Canadian and international customs regulations with confidence. You’ll be responsible for providing extensive customs brokerage services under more than sixty acts of legislation related to International Trade, including HVS and LVS entry processing. Your expertise will directly support FedEx’s ability to move shipments across borders efficiently and in full compliance with applicable laws.

Beyond processing entries, you’ll play a key advisory role, consulting with customers on customs matters and ensuring that clearance requirements are met across various government agencies. Collaboration, precision, and up-to-date knowledge of tariff, valuation, agriculture, food and drug, and OGD laws are essential to succeeding in this environment. Maintaining your CCS designation and earning annual recurrency points is a requirement of the position.

Responsibilities

As a GTS Senior Broker at FedEx Calgary, your day-to-day work revolves around ensuring that international shipments clear customs accurately and on time. Your contributions are essential to keeping the supply chain moving smoothly while keeping FedEx in full regulatory compliance.

• Process high and low value shipment entries (HVS/LVS) in accordance with Canada Customs regulations
• Consult with customers on customs brokerage requirements, providing expert guidance on international trade documentation
• Apply in-depth knowledge of customs, agriculture, food and drug, tariff, and valuation laws and OGD policies
• Manage agency clearance requirements and execute release processes across multiple government departments
• Maintain your CCS designation and complete required annual recurrency points to remain current in the field
• Perform accurate data entry at a minimum of 25 wpm (alphanumeric) to support high-volume processing
• Handle physical packages as needed, including lifting up to 70 lbs and manoeuvring packages up to 150 lbs using appropriate equipment
• Collaborate with the team to meet performance thresholds and complete all mandatory training and recurrence programs

Requirements / Skills

• Canadian Customs Specialist (CCS) or CSCB designation — required and must be maintained throughout employment
• Minimum 2 years of current customs brokerage experience, or 2 years in rating and international experience
• Post-secondary education — Community College Diploma or equivalent
• In-depth knowledge of customs, agriculture, food and drug, tariff and valuation laws, and Other Government Department (OGD) regulations
• Strong mathematical skills and proficiency in Excel (basic level) for data processing tasks
• Knowledge of FedEx operations and international customs documentation is a strong asset
• Physical capability to lift 70 lbs and manoeuvre packages up to 150 lbs using proper equipment (applicable at YYC port)
• Data entry speed of at least 25 wpm (alphanumeric) preferred
