About the Role: Field Sales Specialist Ocean Freight
This position centres on building a strong sales pipeline and converting prospects into long-term DHL Global Forwarding clients. You’ll manage a portfolio of medium to large business customers, keeping them informed about changes in the logistics landscape and recommending DHL solutions that fit their needs. A significant portion of your time (~80%) will be spent on face-to-face customer visits, so a personal vehicle is required.
You’ll work cross-functionally with internal product teams, trade lane specialists, and other sales channels within DPDHL to deliver a full supply chain of services. You’ll also be responsible for gathering RFI/RFP/RFQ information, preparing implementation documentation, and using the DGF CRM tool for pipeline reporting and performance analysis. Bilingualism in French and English is essential, as you’ll serve both English-speaking clients in Canada and internationally.

Responsibilities
As a Field Sales Specialist – Ocean Freight, your work will be centred on identifying new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and delivering solutions grounded in deep knowledge of the ocean freight market. The role demands both strategic thinking and hands-on execution — from cold prospecting to contract implementation and ongoing account management.
- Develop a strong sales pipeline and actively pursue new business opportunities in the mid- to large-size customer segment
- Prospect, win, and manage medium to large business accounts from initial contact through implementation and beyond
- Advise clients on changes in the logistics environment, including regulations, market shifts, and product updates
- Build rapport and trust with clients by thoroughly understanding their supply chain needs and offering tailored DHL solutions
- Close deals by connecting customer requirements with the right DHL product offerings and demonstrating measurable value
- Conduct joint visits with product teams and trade lane specialists to review customer churn and retention strategies
- Collaborate across DPDHL sales channels to deliver a comprehensive suite of services to clients
- Gather and prepare RFI/RFP/RFQ documentation to support proper customer onboarding and operational handover in line with SLAs and SOPs
- Utilize the DGF CRM tool for pipeline reporting, analysis, and performance tracking
Requirements / Skills
