About the Role: Electronics/Majors Sales Assistant

As an Electronics/Majors Sales Assistant at Costco Richmond, you’ll be responsible for delivering an exceptional shopping experience in some of the most high-value departments in the warehouse. You’ll answer member questions, demonstrate products, explain features and specifications, and ensure your department always looks its best. Staying sharp on the latest trends means regularly reading industry publications and product reviews to keep your knowledge fresh and relevant.

Beyond member interaction, you’ll play an important role in merchandising, inventory management, and department upkeep. Communicating with your Area Manager about product quantities, pricing, and promotions, as well as maintaining signage accuracy, are all part of the job. Responsibilities

The day-to-day responsibilities of an Electronics/Majors Sales Assistant are varied and engaging. You’ll spend your shift balancing member-facing service with behind-the-scenes department maintenance, ensuring both the customer experience and the physical department are always in top shape. Here’s what you can expect to be doing regularly:

• Provide prompt and courteous service to members across the major appliances, electronics, and jewellery departments
• Demonstrate products and clearly explain features, functions, and specifications to help members make informed decisions
• Assist members in loading large or heavy products onto their carts safely
• Stay current on industry trends by regularly reading trade magazines, product reviews, and experimenting with merchandise to understand its capabilities
• Communicate with the Area Manager regarding product quantities, pricing, delivery timelines, and upcoming promotions
• Maintain merchandising standards including setting up displays, facing and aligning product, and restocking shelves to keep product levels high
• Process member returns by checking and approving returned product, and verify accuracy of product signage and price markings
• Participate in merchandise moves and assist forklift drivers by reviewing stocking lists and moving product to the sales floor
• Maintain a clean and organized department including the security lock-up area, sweeping the floor, and clearing debris

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people and has a natural curiosity about technology and consumer electronics. The ideal candidate brings sales experience and a willingness to continuously learn about the products they sell. Here’s what you’ll need to be considered:

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred for this position
• Sales experience is a strong asset — candidates with a background in sales will be given preference
• Must pass Costco’s PC/Electronics knowledge test as part of the hiring process
• Strong communication skills to clearly explain product features and address member questions with confidence
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and a high standard of customer service
• For positions in Quebec locations, candidates must be able to communicate in both French and English (oral and written)
