Amazon is hiring an Area Manager to join their fast-paced fulfillment centre operations in Calgary, Alberta. This is a full-time, entry-level leadership role that puts you directly on the production floor, leading a team of hourly associates and making a real impact on Canada’s supply chain every single day.

As an Area Manager, you’ll step into one of Amazon’s busiest operational environments, where no two shifts are the same. About the Role: Area Manager

At the heart of this position is people leadership. You’ll be responsible for supporting, mentoring, and motivating between 50 and 100 Amazon Associates, ensuring they have everything they need to hit their targets safely and efficiently. Amazon provides extensive training and development resources to help you grow into an exceptional operations leader from day one.

Beyond team management, you’ll be expected to operate autonomously, work shift patterns that may include nights, weekends, and holidays, and contribute physically on the floor — from handling packages and using pallet jacks to operating PIT equipment where applicable. This is a role that demands both leadership presence and hands-on engagement.

Benefits and Salary

Amazon offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $70,200 to $83,000 CAD for this Calgary-based role. As a total compensation company, your package may also include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Beyond base pay, Amazon provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life and AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support overall health and well-being. Relocation benefits may also be offered to eligible candidates.

Responsibilities

As an Area Manager at Amazon, your day-to-day responsibilities will span both people leadership and hands-on operations. You’ll be the key link between your team of associates and the broader operational goals of the fulfillment centre, making decisions that directly affect safety, quality, and performance.

• Lead and mentor 50–100 Amazon Associates, fostering a motivated and high-performing team culture
• Monitor and manage team performance against safety, quality, attendance, and productivity targets
• Operate independently in an autonomous environment, taking initiative and making sound operational decisions
• Oversee truck deliveries, sort and handle packages, and operate pallet jacks and PIT equipment as needed
• Work variable shift patterns, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by business needs
• Physically engage on the floor — standing and walking for shifts up to 12 hours, lifting up to 49 lbs, and performing tasks such as pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching
• Ensure workplace safety standards are upheld at all times across all team activities

Requirements / Skills

Amazon is looking for emerging leaders who are ready to grow in a fast-paced operations environment. The ideal candidate brings strong interpersonal skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the educational foundation to lead with confidence. Preference is given to candidates with backgrounds in fields aligned with supply chain or operations management.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree currently held or in progress — all degree requirements must be completed before the start date
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively lead and engage a diverse team
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills suited for a collaborative, people-first environment
• Degree in Supply Chain, Business/Management, Engineering, or a related field is an asset
• Valid work authorization in Canada without the need for employer sponsorship, now or in the future
• Physical capability to perform warehouse duties including lifting, climbing, and extended periods of standing and walking
