Key Responsibilities of the Vendor Manager – Furniture, Canada Retail Hardlines at Amazon

As a Vendor Manager, you will act as the business owner for a portfolio of strategic vendors within the Furniture category, developing joint business plans and helping optimize their supply chain. You will work closely with various internal teams, including In-stock Management, Vendor Management, and Site Merchandising, to improve the vendor’s success on Amazon. In this role, you will develop strategies to enhance product visibility, optimize pricing, and improve operational efficiencies, while maintaining strong relationships with your vendors.

Key Responsibilities

As a Vendor Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the business owner for your vendor portfolio, understanding both internal and external factors that impact the business.
  • Owning forecasting, monitoring, and reporting on vendor performance, with a focus on achieving business objectives through strategic supply chain projects and promotions.
  • Negotiating costs, promotional opportunities, and other key business inputs with your vendors to drive profitability.
  • Conducting pricing analysis and making recommendations to optimize profit margins and improve the vendor’s performance on Amazon.
  • Managing purchase orders, conducting in-stock analysis, and driving improvements in inventory management for strategic brands.
  • Optimizing the online presence of your vendor’s products by ensuring accurate content, strong product detail pages, and an engaging customer experience.
  • Developing and executing marketing plans that drive awareness and sales for the vendor’s products.
  • Leading cross-category initiatives that improve operational processes and deliver tangible results.

Basic Qualifications

To be considered for the Vendor Manager position, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years of professional or military experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in retail, operations, product or program management, or business management with a strong background in negotiations and delivering results.
  • Experience with financial analysis and ownership of profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities.
  • 3+ years of experience with Excel, using it to drive data analysis and performance improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will also have the following qualifications:

  • Experience managing large data sets and leveraging them to drive performance and process improvements.
  • Proven experience in vendor negotiations, pricing strategy, promotion management, and product development.
  • Ability to handle complex supply chain and operational challenges, using data to make informed decisions.
