We are seeking talented scientists with expertise in LLMs, speech, audio, NLP, or multimodal learning. Your innovations will directly impact the development of AI applications, such as real-time conversational experiences, talking avatar interactions, and multilingual support.
About the Role
As an Applied Scientist with Amazon’s AGI Sensory Foundation Model team, you will research novel algorithms to simulate real-world interactions, with a strong emphasis on the speech modality.
Your work will involve acquiring and curating diverse datasets, ensuring privacy, and creating robust evaluation metrics to assess LLM performance. You’ll drive innovations in data simulation, model pre-training, fine-tuning, and responsible AI practices to bring new AI products and services to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and develop data simulation approaches mimicking real-world interactions, focusing on the speech modality.
- Acquire and curate large, diverse datasets while ensuring privacy compliance.
- Create robust evaluation metrics and test sets to assess LLM performance.
- Integrate human-in-the-loop feedback to enhance data selection and model performance.
- Innovate in model pre-training, fine-tuning, and representation for both simulated and real-world datasets.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience building models for business applications.
- PhD or Master’s degree and 4+ years in CS, CE, ML, or a related field.
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or a related language.
- Experience in algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high-performance computing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in professional software development.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, MxNet, TensorFlow.
- Proficiency in two or more areas: large language models, information retrieval, speech recognition, computer vision, or graph neural networks.
- Experience with large-scale machine learning systems, including profiling, debugging, and understanding system performance and scalability.
