About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician II, you will be a key player in supporting the Operations Maintenance team in repairing and maintaining material handling equipment and pneumatic systems throughout the facility. This position offers the opportunity to install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment, while also mentoring junior technicians to grow in their roles.

The Maintenance Technician II will be responsible for developing hands-on skills while ensuring that the building operates safely and efficiently. In this role, you’ll help train less experienced technicians and apply your expertise in troubleshooting and repairing material handling equipment.

The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team offers a structured selection process for the Maintenance Technician II role, typically taking approximately 30 days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
  • Complete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems with material handling equipment (MHE) including belts, motors, photo-eyes, and relays.
  • Maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the Amazon Operations facility.
  • Track and store department inventory.
  • Move up to 49 lbs, stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Shift Information

Amazon offers multiple shifts for the Maintenance Technician II role. While shift preferences are considered, specific assignments may vary based on operational requirements:

  • Front Half Day Shift: Typically Sunday to Wednesday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
  • Back Half Day Shift: Typically Wednesday to Saturday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
  • Front Half Night Shift: Typically Sunday to Wednesday, 6:00 PM – 4:30 AM.
  • Back Half Night Shift: Typically Wednesday to Saturday, 7:00 PM – 5:30 AM.

Basic Qualifications

To qualify for the Maintenance Technician II role, candidates should have:

  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

Amazon prefers candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college in Mechanical or Electrical fields.
  • 2+ years of experience with automated conveyor systems and controls.
  • 2+ years of experience in repairing material handling equipment.
  • 2+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • 1+ years of experience with blueprint and electrical schematic reading.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
